With a good Jujitsu/Judo class, anyone can learn how to disarm attackers and defeat opponents.
Judo translates to “gentle way”. Meaning, you use the opponent’s weight and balance against them rather than forcing them in a direction.
Judo is considered a grappling sport and utilizes throws or “flips” to bring your opponent to the ground.
On the ground Judo participants learn techniques such as holds, joint locks and chokes to subdue the opponent. Our Jujitsu and Judo classes in Barrington, IL, teach you these exact movements and tactics.
Unlike other martial arts judo is not a choreographed set of moves and does not involve kicking or punching. Rather, Judo teaches its participants the use of maximum efficiency with a minimum of effort by using the opponent’s weight, balance and momentum against themselves.
Judo is the most widely practiced martial art in the world and second most practiced sport behind soccer. Brazilian Jiu-jitsu was developed after Mitsuyo Maeda brought Judo to Brazil in 1914. At that time, Judo was still commonly called Kanō Jiu-Jitsu, from its founder Kanō Jigorō. As grappling grows in popularity, more and more competitions open up. Tiger Academy’s Jujitsu and Judo classes in Barrington, IL, and staff teach the skills needed to be successful in both competition and real-life situations.
Our Jujitsu/Judo classes are perfect for those at any skill level.
